First, you should make sure you have beat the 3 mechanical bosses and plantera. Then make a solar tablet to summon the solar eclipse event.
Make sure you have the right gear to beat mothron. I suggest you have powerful wings such as a jetpack from the steampunker. I suggest you use beetle armor, megashrak, and death sickle to beat mothron.
Also, make sure to have enough health potions and make a room for the nurse NPC near the fighting arena.
I did this the first time at the base but you can build a flat arena for this or use a boss fight arena. Don’t forget that mothron is not the only enemy you have to face in solar eclipse because it is a game event. There are more enemies you have to deal so be careful.
