1. Enchanted sword
The first sword on the highest damage swords in the terraria list is the enchanted sword. The enchanted sword is a great sword to use in terraria pre-hardmode on early game.
The enchanted sword can be found in underground enchanted sword shrines, golden crates, or titanium crates. According to my personal experience, the easiest way is from the underground enchanted sword shrines.
So you can find this sword in the early game and use it as an overpowered weapon instead of using iron swords, copper swords, or anything like that
This weapon has 24 Damage without buffs and you can add a legendary modifier for the maximum effect.

2. Purple clubberfish
The next sword on the highest damage swords in the terraria list is the purple clubberfish sword. This sword is also can obtain in the early game.
You can get a purple clubberfish sword by fishing in the corruption biome. But you should have at least 50% fishing power to obtain this. If you have 100% fishing power, it will be easier to have it.

The purple clubberfish sword also has 24 damage without buffs and you can add a legendary modifier for the maximum effect.
3. Beekeeper
Beekeeper is also a pre-hardmode sword in terraria. But this sword is very hard to obtain in the early game (don’t even think).
The only way to obtain this sword is by defeating the queen bee. There is a 33% chance to obtain it by defeating this boss.
Also, there is a special thing about this sword which is this sword can summon bees to attack our enemies. Most of the time these bees will be able to confuse our enemies for 2 seconds. You can wear a shark tooth necklace and use a sharpening station to increase the damage to the bees.
This sword has 26 damage without any buffs and you can use the legendary modifier for the maximum effect.
4. Blade of grass
The next sword that is on the highest damage swords in the terraria list is the blade of grass. This is the first craft-able sword on this list. To make the blade of grass sword you need 12 stingers and 12 jungle spores at an iron or a lead anvil.
You can find stingers by hornets in the jungle biome and also you can find jungle spores from the jungle biome.
The special thing about this sword is it can poison the enemies to lose their hit points slowly for 7 seconds.
This sword has 28 melee damage and the legendary is the best modifier.
5. Fiery greatsword
This is one of the best swords that you can obtain in terraria per-hardmode(actually this is the second best in pre-hardmode).
To craft a fiery greatsword need to use 20 hellstone bars at an iron or lead anvil.
The special thing about this sword is it can put your enemy on fire to lose their hit point slowly for 3 seconds.
This sword has 40 melee damage and the best modifier is legendary.
6. Breaker blade
The breaker blade is the largest melee sword in terraria. You can obtain this sword by defeating the wall of flesh.
But you can’t always have it by defeating the wall of flesh. There is only a 4/1 chance of dropping it from it.
This sword can deal double damage to the enemy which is 86 minimum if the enemy has more than 90% hp.
This sword has 43 melee damage and legendary is the best modifier for it.
7. Night’s edge
The next sword on the highest damage swords in the terraria list is night’s edge. This is the highest damage sword that you can obtain in terraria pre-hardmode. You can use this sword to craft the true night’s edge sword in hardmode.
To craft the night’s edge, you need light’s bane or blood butcherer, Muramasa, blade of grass, and fiery greatsword at a demon altar or a crimson altar.
This sword has 42 melee damage and legendry is the best modifier.
8. Cutlass
Cutlass is a great sword to have in early hardmode in terraria. The only way to have this sword is by beating pirate captains. You can find pirate captains in the hardmode event called pirate invasion. You can start this event using the pirate map item.
To find this you should go to the ocean biome and beat all the enemies until they drop this (when you are in hardmode).
Pirate captains are stronger than the other normal enemies in terraria. So make sure to have good armor and a weapon. I use the Amarok yoyo as the weapon for this fight.
The special this about cutlass is it is very fast and it can deal a lot of damage to the enemies as an early hardmode weapon.
This sword has 49 melee damage and legendry is the best modifier.
9. Seedler
This sword is also one of my favorite swords in terraria. Seedler is the second sword that is dropped by a boss on this list. You can have this sword by beating plantera in hardmode. Plantera is the 4th boss that you have to beat in terraria hardmode.
There are 2/7 chances for you to have to by beating plantera. So it is not easy to summon plantera a lot of times in terraria. The reason is to summon plantera, you need to destroy a plantera bulb in the underground jungle biome. These bulbs are very rare to find. But sometimes you can find more than 1 bulb if you explore the underground well.
The special thing about seedler is, that it can fire grenades when you use it. Seedler is also a crafting material that use to craft the zenith (the best sword in terraria).
This sword has 50 melee damage and you can add the legendry modifier to have maximum effect from this sword.
10. Excalibur
Excalibur sword is the 10th sword in this terraria highest damage swords list. You can craft this sword by using 12 hollowed bars which can’t be gained by mining. To get hollowed bars you should beat mechanical bosses. There are 3 mechanical bosses in the game and you don’t need to beat all of them to craft this sword.
Usually, you can get 15-30 hollowed bars by beating one mechanical boss. So if you can manage to beat one boss you can make this sword. So I suggest you try the twins or the destroyer. I think the destroyer is much easier than the twins. The choice is up to you.
You can use this sword to craft the true Excalibur which is more potent than this sword.
This sword has 66 melee damage.
11. True Excalibur
This sword is the upgraded version of Excalibur. To craft this sword, you need an Excalibur sword and 24 chlorophyte bars at a Mythril or orichalcum anvil.
It may be easy to make an Excalibur after beating the first mechanical boss. But to make the true Excalibur you have to wait until you find a pickaxe that can mine chlorophyte bars. You can mine chlorophyte bars using the drill called Drax.
You can craft it using 18 hollowed bars, soul of fright, soul if might, and soul of sight at a Mythril anvil or an orichalcum anvil.
The special thing about this sword is it can shoot projectiles. You need this sword to craft a terra blade.
This sword has 70 damage.
12. Brand of the inferno
Brand of the inferno is a hardmode sword in terraria. You can obtain this sword by beating the ogre mini-boss in the old one’s army event. There is a 7% chance for you to have it by beating him.
The special thing about this sword is it can also set your enemy on fire for 5 seconds and you can guard your character with a shield by pressing right click.
This sword has 85 melee damage and 20 temporary shield. Legendary is the best modifier.
13. Keybrand

Terra blade is one of the greatest swords in terraria. You can make a terra blade using true night’s edge, ture Excalibur, and broken hero sword at a Mythril or orichalcum anvil.
The special thing about the terra blade is it can shoot green projectiles faster than true night’s edge which is very fast and it won’t cost anything for it. So you can also use it as an infinite ranger weapon.
Terra blade is one of the swords that you need to craft the zenith.
This sword has 115 melee damage and the best modifier is legendry.
16. Flying dragon
To get the flying dragon sword in terraria you need to beat the mini boss called Betsy which you can find from the old one’s army.
This mini boss will spawn in the old one’s army (wave 7) after you beat the golem. There are 4 weapons you can get from Betsy and each one of them has a 25% chance to drop.
Among these weapons, the flying dragon sword can deal the highest damage to the enemies.

18. Zenith
The final and the best highest damage sword in terraria in the list is the zenith. To craft zenith, you need terra blade, meowmere, star wrath, influx waver, the horseman’s blade, seedler, starfury, beekeeper, an enchanted sword, and copper shortsword at a Mythril or an orichalcum anvil.
Zenith can deal a lot of damage to enemies within a few seconds and this sword requires the most items to craft in terraria.
This sword has 190 melee damage but it can deal 70 000 damage per second on a single enemy. The best modifier for this sword is legendry.
